Pinterest is an evil beast – it promises so much and yet, the reality is often fraught with smashed glasses, stomped feet and using your floury apron to mop your tears.
Then I saw this lovely thing on another wordpress user’s blog and I became a little bit overexcited. I actually think I could make this!
I guess the key will be to only put them together shortly before serving, as there is the potential for the sloppy sagging of cream.

They’re so good and easy to make. You can use ready-made brownie bites or bake a pan of your favorite brownies. I whipped up some vanilla-mascarpone buttercream to simulate the white trim on the hats.

Santa Hat Brownies
Yields 12-16 brownies
12-16 small strawberries, cleaned and hulled
vanilla-mascarpone buttercream (recipe below)
Choose a Brownie you like and make little circle with it
1/2 cup unsalted butter
8 ounces mascarpone cheese
3 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
